DUSHANBE, November 4, 2014, Asia-Plus – Legatum Institute’s 2014 Prosperity Index puts Tajikistan 94th among 142 countries.
The global Prosperity Index is the flagship publication of the Legatum Institute. First published in 2007, the Index now benchmarks 142 countries around the world across eight distinct categories: Economy; Education; Entrepreneurship & Opportunity; Governance; Health; Personal Freedom; Safety & Security; and Social Capital.
The Prosperity Index reportedly includes both objective and subjective data. The purpose of the Prosperity Index is to spark debate and to encourage policymakers, scholars, the media, and the interested public to take a holistic view of prosperity and to better understand how it is created.
The Legatum Institute is an independent policy, advisory and advocacy organization within the Legatum group of companies based in London, United Kingdom. The Institute researches and promotes the principles that drive the creation of global prosperity and the expansion of human liberty. The Institute undertakes original and collaborative research and publishes case studies and ancillary literature.
In the ranking of 142 countries, Tajikistan reportedly stands at 118 on economy, at 64 on education, at 98 on health, at 105 on personal freedom, at 59 on safety & security, at 107 on entrepreneurship & opportunity, at 109 on governance, and at 64 on social capital.
Meanwhile, Legatum Institute's 2014 Prosperity Index puts Kazakhstan 55th, Uzbekistan 57th, and Kyrgyzstan 74th.
