ADB, WB are Implementing in Tajikistan 110 Investment Projects

Avesta.Tj | 30.06.2014 | Since 1998, the Asian development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB) have implemented in Tajikistan about 110 investment projects for the sum of $1.9 billion, the Tajik government, ADB and WB said past week at the joint review of implementation of state investment projects.
Energy, transport, agriculture, water, health and education projects are mostly invested by these financial institutions.
The participants of the meeting noted that more than 80% of the projects financed on a grant basis. By now, the implementations of most projects are completed.
Since 1998, the ADB has supported the investment projects of Tajikistan for the amount of $1.2 billion, representing 61% of total projects. $743 million falls to the WB share, that representing 39% of the total amount of the mentioned funds.
Currently, ADB is financing 11 projects in the amount of $590,9 million. More than 83% of these projects are carried out on a grant basis. WB is financing 13 projects in the amount of $213,8 million, 88,5% of them as grants.
Tajik government continues to cooperate with these international banks for achieving the main goals: energy independence, food security, exit from transport impasse, the reduction of poverty.
