On November 8, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Susan M. Elliott, participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly renovated facilities at the Health Rehabilitation Boarding School of Rudaki District.
On November 8, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ms. Susan M. Elliott, participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony of the newly renovated facilities at the Health Rehabilitation Boarding School of Roudaki District.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, the $45,000 renovations included new shower and laundry facilities and a reconstructed water tank. The work was funded by the U.S. Department of State Office of the Coordinator of U.S. Assistance to Europe and Eurasia (EUR/ACE) and implemented by Counterpart International’s Community and Humanitarian Assistance Program (CHAP). The repairs significantly improved the overall hygienic and sanitary conditions for the students and staff members living and working at the school.
The Health Rehabilitation Boarding School was established in 1964 as a facility for children throughout the Tajikistan with various health conditions associated with weakened immune systems. Over 500 children from ages 7 through 16 receive primary education and basic medical treatments at the school.
Since 1992, the American people have provided more than $1 billion in programs and humanitarian aid that support Tajikistan’s democratic institutions, health care, education and economic growth.
